New safety rules took effect on Tuesday that will ban drop-side style baby cribs. The new rules make it illegal to sell or donate cribs that have drop down sides. Since year 2000, 32 infant deaths dealing with strangulation have been reported with the use of drop-side style beds.

Daycare centers and hotels will have until December 28^th of 2012 to replace all of their drop-side style infant beds.
