Rutherford County has a budget for the next fiscal year. The 444-point-seven-million dollar budget passed on an 18-to-2 vote Monday morning during a special meeting of the Rutherford County Commission. The budget was passed without a tax increase on local taxpayers. They did vote to take over 16-million dollars from reserves to balance the budget, which takes effect July 1st. The commissioners set the property tax rate at just over $2.46 per one-hundred dollars of assessed property value. The only dissenting votes were Commissioners Robert Stevens and Allen McAdoo.
