BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. (WGNS) - A familiar face to Rutherford County sports fans is heading back to the dugout. Hall of Fame baseball coach Mack Hawks has signed on as the new head varsity coach at The Webb School for the 2027 spring season.

Hawks stepped down from Oakland High School last spring after 37 seasons with the Patriots. During his historic tenure in Murfreesboro, Hawks collected 760 career victories, nine district titles, seven region championships, and two TSSAA Class AAA State Championships in 1999 and 2001. The Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association inducted Hawks into its Hall of Fame in 2014, and Oakland named its home baseball field in his honor.

Now, Hawks brings that experience just south of Rutherford County to Bell Buckle.

Joining Hawks is Scott Hall, who stepped away from head coaching duties at Webb following the 2026 school year. Hall will head player development, focusing on preparing athletes for collegiate competition. Under Hall's guidance last season, five Webb players signed with college programs.

Former minor league pitcher and Riverdale baseball player Brady Puckett rounds out the staff as the head middle school coach. Puckett pitched professionally for five seasons and will focus on fundamentals and team culture for Webb's younger players.

Webb Executive Director of Athletics Bill McClain noted that pairing Hawks, Hall, and Puckett gives the program a proven foundation to develop local talent both on the field and in the classroom.
