MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) officers surrounded a Gateland Drive residence and flew a drone inside on Monday (October 26th) after a homeowner reported a possible intruder.

Officers responded to the neighborhood at 3:46 p.m. after the homeowner watched a Ring doorbell camera feed and believed an unfamiliar person walked into the house. The large police presence quickly grabbed the attention of local residents, and at least one neighbor contacted WGNS after the heavy response caused concern across the street.

Officers set up a perimeter around the home to secure the area. A 19-year-old was supposed to be inside the house and told officers she did not hear anything.

Rather than sending personnel straight inside, officers flew an MPD drone into the house to perform a limited search. The drone operator did not see anyone inside the living spaces.

Officers then entered the residence to conduct a thorough search on foot. Murfreesboro Public Safety Public Information Director Larry Flowers confirmed officers cleared the home, finding no intruders inside and nothing missing from the Rutherford County residence.
