HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WGNS) - Siegel High School boys bowling coach Sapnesh Naran earned top honors from state sports officials on Thursday (August 20th). The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) named Naran the State Active Coach of the Year for boys bowling following his accomplishments during the 2025-26 school year.

TSSAA announced the honor as part of its participation in the NFHS Coaches Association Award Program. The initiative recognizes State Active Coaches of the Year and Sectional Coaches of the Year in every sport sanctioned by the association.

Coaches earn selection based entirely on their athletic accomplishments from the previous school year. State and sectional winners will receive an official certificate from the National Federation recognizing their achievements. Sectional winners also advance for consideration for the NFHS National Coach of the Year Award, where a national committee selects final honorees to receive plaques from the national office.

TSSAA recognized coaches across multiple divisions for the 2025-26 school year, including high school, unified sports, and middle school programs.

In high school sports, the state winners are:

• Boys Golf: John Williams, Hardin Valley Academy

• Boys Cross Country: Luke Finley, Independence High School

  

• Boys Bowling: Sapnesh Naran, Siegel High School

• Boys Basketball: Kevin Thomas, Jackson County High School

• Wrestling: Josh Bosken, Cleveland High School

• Baseball: Brad Smith, Crockett County High School

• Boys Soccer: Isaac Brooks, Grace Christian Academy - Knoxville
