MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - Local veterans will have a chance to connect with a wide range of services, benefits, and support programs during the Veterans Resource Fair on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Tristar Veteran Service Center, 439 Rice Street in Murfreesboro.

The event is designed as a practical, welcoming, one‑stop place where veterans can meet representatives from the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services, and the Rutherford County Veteran Service Office. Eligible veterans can enroll in VA health care and learn about programs such as the Caregiver Support Program, Women Veterans Program, and Community Care. VA leaders will open the fair with remarks at 4 p.m.

Murfreesboro’s veteran‑support network is unusually strong. The Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center at MTSU and the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center both play major roles in helping veterans transition, heal, and thrive. The York campus also includes the Fisher House, which provides free lodging for families of veterans undergoing procedures, and the Tennessee State Veterans Home, a long‑term care and convalescent facility offering nursing‑home‑level support.

These resources make Rutherford County one of the most veteran‑friendly communities in Tennessee. The fair acts as a front door into that network, connecting veterans directly with the people and programs ready to help them.

The York VA’s legacy of care stretches back to 1940, when it opened as a neuropsychiatric and rehabilitation hospital. Today, it continues to serve veterans across Tennessee, Kentucky, and northern Georgia through the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, which includes the York and Nashville VA Medical Centers and more than a dozen outpatient clinics.

Put simply, the Veterans Resource Fair exists to connect veterans with the help that already exists for them—medical, educational, financial, family‑support, and community‑based. It’s a chance to meet the people behind those programs, ask questions, and get pointed in the right direction.
