Rutherford County Firefighters Control Early Morning Blaze in Murfreesboro

Rutherford County, TN - Rutherford County Fire and Rescue (RCFR) responded to a residential fire on Compton Road in Murfreesboro early this morning around 3:00 AM. Compton Road, which runs between Highway 231 (Memorial Blvd) near the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center and Highway 96 (Lascassas Pike), became the scene of a significant emergency as firefighters arrived to find heavy flames erupting from the roof of the structure.

Fire crews acted promptly to bring the blaze under control, successfully preventing further damage to the home and surrounding properties. Fortunately, the homeowners were inside at the time of the fire but managed to escape safely and without injuries.

In addition to RCFR, the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Service, and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to provide assistance. The American Red Cross is currently offering support to the displaced residents.

Investigators from the Rutherford County Fire Marshal's Office arrived to assess the situation and conduct an inquiry into the cause of the fire. Upon completion of their investigation, they classified the fire as accidental.

Residents are reminded to ensure their smoke detectors are functioning and to always have an escape plan in place in the event of a fire.
