RUTHERFORD COUNTY – Prepare for a day of gusty winds and potentially strong to severe weather on Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 1 risk for severe storms across Rutherford County. While the sunshine today provides a calm before the storm, conditions will change by the evening as thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain, damaging winds, and gusty conditions.

Windy Weather on the Horizon
Windy conditions are expected to be a constant threat on Tuesday. The National Weather Service predicts sustained winds between 35-40 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. These strong winds will affect Rutherford County throughout the day and into Wednesday, so residents should secure outdoor objects and prepare for challenging travel conditions.

Severe Weather Threat
While Rutherford County sits at a Level 1 risk, meaning severe weather is possible but limited in intensity and coverage, it’s still important to stay alert. The primary threats include damaging winds and heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding. The possibility of tornadoes and hail exists, but wind and flooding are the biggest concerns.

Timing and Rainfall
The worst of the weather is expected to arrive Tuesday evening, likely between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM. This is when the stronger storms are predicted to move through Rutherford County.
