MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Firefighters with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) responded to a blaze at The Dempsey Apartments late Monday night, successfully containing the fire to the building’s laundry room.

The fire, located on Crossway Avenue, was reported at approximately 11:00 p.m. and drew a swift response from multiple MFRD units. The first fire company on the scene extinguished the flames quickly, preventing the fire from spreading to the apartment directly above.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the MFRD Fire Marshal's Office.

Units that responded to the scene included Ladder 1, Ladder 2, Ladder 4, Ladder 6, Ladder 8, Engine 3, Rescue 1, Rescue 4, Safety 1, Safety 2, Battalion Chief 1, and Battalion Chief 2.
