Murfreesboro, TN - As we prepare to welcome the first day of fall on Sunday, we'll warm-up the historic Murfreesboro square Friday night with some classic rhythem and blues echoing around the historic district from 6:30-9:30PM tonight (Friday, 9/20/204). Come hungry, bring your lawn chair and get ready for a fun Friday night of great musical memories, great food from downtown eateries, and a fun visit with friends--along with temps in the 80s and dropping into the 70s.

Biz and The Everyday People will have their nine-member band on stage playing all your favorite R&B hits including Let’s Groove Tonight/Earth, Wind and Fire; Brown Eyed Girl/Van Morrison; I want you back/The Jackson 5; Crazy in Love/Beyonce; and Levitating/Dua Lipa.  Biz, lead singer of Everyday People says, “We are so excited to play on the square again.  It’s been a few years since we’ve been there and we’re looking forward to seeing all our friends Friday night.  Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful night for some good music!”

Main Street Murfreesboro, a nonprofit, 501c3, has been hosting free community concerts in historic downtown since 2005.  “For 19 years Main Street has used the power of music to bring our community together and create a sense of place for everyone,” said Main Street's Executive Director Sarah Callender.

Not only is it a great time to spend an evening with friends, it's also perfect to enjoy dinner at one of the fantastic restaurants on the square or do a little shopping at hometown family business on the square.

The Friday Night Live summer series is held outdoors each month June-October. The free concerts are 6:30-9:30pm and feature a local cover band performing on stage in front of the historic Rutherford County Courthouse. Vehicle entrance to the square is blocked for the evening's concert as people bring chairs to sit in the streets and listen to music.  Local restaurants are open and there are also a variety of food trucks. Free parking is available around the downtown and attendees are encouraged to park in the City Hall Parking Garage off Vine Street, one block from the public square.

After tonight's show, there's only one more Friday Night Live this year.  Make it a point to put Friday. October 25th on your calendar. That's FNL's "swan song" for 2024. The extremely popular Pilots will fill that night with "good ole rock'n roll".  By the way, this show came about as the result of a cancelation in July.

The Friday Night Live concert series is presented by Wilson Bank and Trust.  This month features sponsor MTSU as they kick off Homecoming weekend in True Blue style.  MTSU Athletics will bring a bounce house for kids and the cheerleaders will be performing before the concert begins at 6:15 PM.  Lightning will be walking around for pictures and tickets to the homecoming game will be for sale at the MTSU tent.

Main Street is thankful for many supporting sponsors of this series including Uncle Nearest, Murfreesboro Nissan, Murfreesboro Eye Center, Rutherford Convention and Visitors Bureau, and grants from the Community Foundation and TN. Arts Commission.

Main Street Murfreesboro works to maintain, enhance, and promote the historic downtown as the heart of our community.  All Main Street events are free to the public and are family friendly.
