(RUTHERFORD COUNTY) - A powerful thunderstorm with winds up to 65mph downed trees and disrupted power from Smyrna, into downtown Murfreesboro during the 2pm hour Monday. Also, what the National Weather Service is saying was a possible tornado flipped a tractor trailer on the MTSU campus. They will send survey teams out, working with the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency this week.

The first severe thunderstorm warning came in around 1:50pm with the last one expiring at 3:00pm. At the height of the storm, there were over 27-hundred without power, mainly in the downtown Murfreesboro area.
There were reports of downed trees, limbs and power lines on Academy Street, Bridge Avenue, Blackman area near 840 & I-24, between New Salem & Old Salem Roads, East Burton at North Maney Avenue and on the MTSU campus. In fact, a tractor trailer was picked up and tossed outside Gate 4 at MTSU's Floyd Stadium, landing behind the third base dugout at the baseball stadium from a possible tornado. That's some 150-feet from where it was before the storm.
