La Vergne, Tenn. — The La Vergne Police Department has issued a scam alert, warning residents of a new phone scam targeting community members. Scammers are posing as high-ranking police officials and falsely claiming that the recipient has a warrant out for their arrest.

According to the La Vergne Police, these fraudulent callers suggest that the supposed warrant can be resolved by making a payment over the phone or at a kiosk. The police department emphasizes that no legitimate member or representative would ever make such calls or solicit fines in this manner.

Community members are strongly advised to avoid giving any personal information, banking details, or credit card information to unknown callers. This precaution is crucial in preventing identity theft and financial loss.

For anyone contacted by someone claiming to be from the La Vergne Police Department, verification of the caller's legitimacy is encouraged. Residents can do this by calling the non-emergency line at (615) 793-7744.
