NASHVILLE, TENN. - A 16-year-old girl is facing multiple charges in Juvenile Court following a series of events early Monday morning that involved aggravated assault against first responders, felony evading, and aggravated child endangerment. The incident began with an argument between the teenager and the father of their 2-month-old baby, who accused her of kidnapping the child.
Police were called to 5000 Linbar Drive just after 7 a.m., where they found the teen in a Honda Civic with the baby in the backseat. When officers tried to speak with her, she refused to cooperate and drove to 97 Wallace Road. Officers approached her again at the new location, but she reversed her car into a police vehicle and drove away.
A fourth officer activated his emergency lights and siren, but she did not stop. To avoid further endangering the child, the officer deactivated the lights and followed from a safe distance. The pursuit continued into Rutherford County and ended when the teen stopped at a traffic light on Waldron Road. With assistance from a LaVergne officer, she was taken into custody without further incident. The 2-month-old baby is now with family members.
