Rutherford County, TN - In a recent court ruling, a 24-year-old man from Monroe, North Carolina, named Jake Henry Anderson has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for his involvement in child pornography. This decision comes after U.S. District Judge Frank D. Whitney's verdict, which was announced by Dena J. King, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.
Anderson's case gained attention due to its connection to Rutherford County, Tennessee. Court documents revealed that Anderson befriended a 15-year-old girl from Rutherford County via Snapchat. Their conversations quickly turned inappropriate, with Anderson exchanging explicit images and discussing plans to meet in person.
On July 8, 2021, Anderson drove to the girl's house in Tennessee, picked her up, and brought her back to his home in Union County, North Carolina. Concerned authorities, including detectives from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, sprang into action after receiving a report of the missing 15-year-old girl.
With the help of Homeland Security Investigations and local law enforcement, they were able to track down the girl and arrest Anderson at his North Carolina residence. Further investigations following Anderson's arrest revealed that another 16-year-old girl had also been in contact with him on Snapchat. Anderson had pressured this second victim to send him explicit images and attempted to persuade her to leave her family.
Anderson pleaded guilty to the charges of producing child pornography on June 29, 2022, and is currently awaiting transfer to a federal prison facility. U.S. Attorney King commended the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, for their role in bringing Anderson to justice.
