TBI Alert Leads to Kidnapping Arrest in Rainsville; Shelbyville Children Rescued

Shelbyville, TN - In a harrowing ordeal with roots tracing back to Shelbyville, TN, Rainsville Police Department officers sprang into action following a crucial alert from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). The alert, issued as part of a statewide Amber Alert, sent shockwaves through the community, signaling the abduction of two children from their guardians.
 
On the evening of March 18th, 2024, at approximately 7:30 PM, officers received a vital tip from Shelbyville, TN Police Department, indicating the presence of a U-Haul truck at Burger King in Rainsville, allegedly transporting the abducted children. With swift precision, law enforcement descended upon the scene, uncovering two adults and two young children inside the truck's cab.
 
The individuals were swiftly identified as Casey Campbell, 32, hailing from Scottsboro, and Charles Garrett, 26, from Gadsden. Campbell's apprehension was immediate, as she was sought for the alleged kidnapping of the two children from their guardians in Shelbyville, TN. Presently, she awaits extradition to Tennessee, confined within the walls of the Rainsville Police Department Jail.
 
Amidst the chaos, Charles Garrett was also taken into custody for an outstanding warrant issued by Scottsboro, AL Police Department. Chief Michael Edmondson, overseeing the operation, extended heartfelt gratitude to the patrol officers and investigators of the Rainsville PD for their unwavering commitment and efficiency in swiftly resolving the situation.
