Nashville, TN - Two individuals from Rutherford County are currently in custody for their alleged involvement in a street racing event dubbed "Wet & Wild" that occurred in Antioch in August 2023. The incident, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), took place on August 5, 2023, at the intersection of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Pike.
Hasan Al-Ghanem, aged 19, and Javier Quiroz, aged 18, both residents of La Vergne, are believed to be associated with a group of street racers known as the "Sideways Boyz." Both were apprehended on Thursday, February 8, by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office following a request from the MNPD.
Al-Ghanem is facing charges of critical infrastructure vandalism, a felony, for allegedly opening a fire hydrant in Nashville and allowing water to flood the intersection. Additionally, he is charged with engaging in a riot and is currently held on a $30,000 bond.
Quiroz, on the other hand, is charged with felony reckless endangerment and engaging in a riot for reportedly drifting and performing dangerous maneuvers with his car during the August 5 incident. Investigators identified him as a "slider," a term used for drivers who execute hazardous stunts while bystanders observe. He is currently held on a $10,000 bond.
