Murfreesboro, TN - Parents seeking an academically accelerated environment for their high-achieving and gifted children are invited to apply to the Discovery School in Murfreesboro. The renowned magnet school, part of the Murfreesboro City School system, has officially opened its application process for the upcoming academic year. To provide prospective families with crucial information, the school will host informational meetings on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 6 PM, and a second session on January 11, 2024, during the second week of January.
The school is a 2020 - 2021 "Reward School" in the Bellwood area of Murfreesboro that sits along Middle Tennessee Boulevard. Kindergarten through sixth grade students who are high achievers attend the educational facility that originally opened as the Bellwood School. The school is also a Tennessee STEM designated school, as noted by Principal Dr. Caitlin Bullard...
As a priority, Discovery School accepts applications from Murfreesboro City School students first. Once positions are filled from this pool, the school will conduct tests and consider applications from Rutherford County school children if spots remain available.
Notably, the school follows a choice school model, and therefore, bus transportation is not provided. However, recognizing the needs of working parents, Discovery School offers an Extended Stay Program (ESP), offering care and enrichment classes before school from 6 AM to 7:30 AM and after school from 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM.
Families eager to explore the unique educational opportunities at Discovery School are encouraged to attend the upcoming informational meetings. These sessions will provide insights into the school's curriculum, philosophy, and the application process. The Discovery School is known to foster a challenging and supportive academic environment, tailored to the exceptional abilities of their students.
