(CHATTANOOGA) On a rainy and chilly Saturday (12/2/2023) night at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga the Houston High School Mustangs from Germantown won its first ever state champion by defeating three-time defending champ Oakland Patriots 24 - 9 in the Class 6-A Blue Cross Bowl.

The Germantown team's dominant defense gave them the win. In fact, Houston's lightning fast running-back Damon Sisa rushed 179 yards for the Houston Mustangs, and got a touchdown to boot.

The Patriot's Mr. Football finalist Daune Morris was held to 94 yards on 24 carries. In fact, Morris was limited to 4-yards or less on 15 of those 24 carries.

Again, the final score:  Germantown's Houston High School's Mustangs (Shelby County) defeated Murfreesboro's Oakland Patriots (Rutherford County) 24 - 9.

Bryan Barrett and Jon Dinkins took you live to Chattanooga's Findley Stadium for the action Saturday night, as well as Thursday afternoon when Middle Tennessee Christian School defeated Lebanon's Friendship Christian 28 - 13.
