(MURFREESBORO) As the TBI's investigation into the double attempted robbery Wednesday (11/22/2023) morning at the Oaks Shopping Center, Thompson Lane, the Murfreesboro Police Department has identified the officer who fired his service weapon striking a 44-year-old robbery suspect inside Jason’s Deli.
The man reportedly had two large knives in his hands when he charged towards 5-year veteran Officer Adam Claiborne. The officer is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
As reported late Wednesday (11/22/23) night, the robbery suspect in the fatal officer involved shooting has been identified as 44-year-old Steven James Murphy of Murfreesboro.
Since all officers in Murfreesboro now wear body cams, there is much video of the entire crime scene available for the TBI and court officials to see and document what actualy happened.
