MURFREESBORO, TN - One non-profit in Murfreesboro is making a difference in the lives of others by bringing families and friends together in a unique way.
A number of years ago, Greenhouse Ministries began giving individuals in our community frozen turkeys one week before Thanksgiving. The idea was for recipients to prepare the turkeys in their own home, while inviting family and friends over.
One woman who received a turkey a few years ago had strife within her family, but that special meal untangled years of discord... The frozen turkey, which came with all the trimmings, gave her a reason to invite family over for dinner – a dinner that otherwise, she would not have been able to afford.
Question: Who would have imagined that frozen turkeys could play a role in changing the direction of a family? The Answer - Cliff Sharp, co-founder of Greenhouse Ministries, who encourages the community to get involved and donate a frozen turkey this Friday...Greenhouse has a goal of collecting 600-frozen turkeys. If you'd like to help, the turkeys need to be dropped off at the non-profit between 6 AM and 6 PM this Friday (Nov. 17, 2023) at 307 S. Academy Street in downtown Murfreesboro. The local non-profit is also collecting canned hams and WGNS was told that about 50-more are needed.
Sharp said a tent will be set-up on Friday, next to a large refrigerated truck. He also told us the drop-off point will be a drive-thru and you won't have to get out of your car. In other words, you can drop off a frozen turkey without being late to work!
