Cost to Build a Minor League Baseball Stadium May Keep Franchise Out

A minor league baseball team in Murfreesboro with a minor league baseball stadium looks to be further away from reality than initially anticipated.

This past September, developers of a double A (AA) baseball franchise presented Murfreesboro council members with a proposal to locate a stadium in the area of Cannonsburgh Village. The proposal was presented to council members at a workshop session. Since that time, more information has come to light on the costs involved with bringing a franchise from the American Association of Professional Baseball (AAPB) into Murfreesboro... That was Murfreesboro City Councilman Kirt Wade.

The councilman went on to suggest there is still a slight chance that ballpark developers may still find a way to make this venture happen... Organizers of the franchise made it clear that they believe downtown Murfreesboro would be an ideal place to call home. It will likely be up to the baseball owners to fund the expansion of their independent league in the 'Boro, if they want to play ball in Rutherford County.
