RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - A well known Murfreesboro woman passed away this past Thursday after a lengthy period of declining health. Sally Jones Wall was 84 when she died at her home October 26, 2023. Mrs. Wall was known as a Tennessee trail blazer.

The lifelong resident of Rutherford County graduated from Central High School in 1957 and later went to business school in Nashville where she learned typing and taking shorthand. Many may not know what shorthand is today... It is a method of rapidly writing notes and important details from meetings or events by using abbreviations while listening closely to dictation.

The local resident took her first job at the Goodall Clinic in Smyrna and later went to work for the VA Hospital. There, she was required to pass a Civil Service Typing Exam. Wall not only passed the exam, she became known for woman who could type the highest amount of words per minute.

Always looking to succeed in life, she obtained her real estate license in 1972 and worked with her brother Johnny Jones at the Jones Company. She was passionately aggressive in pursuing leads and built a strong reputation in the world of real estate.

At the age of 40, Mrs. Wall lost her first husband George Snow. Mr. Snow was only 48 when he passed away, leaving behind not only his wife, but also his daughter Beth Snow and son Randy Snow.

Despite the painful loss, the young widow continued to work hard and build her real estate sales more and more. In 1980, Sally became the first woman in Rutherford County to own and operate a real estate brokerage firm, Sally Snow Realty.

In 1982, she partnered with Howard Wall to form the real estate company known as Snow and Wall Real Estate. In 1983, she married Howard. The couple eventually sold the company, which later became known as Coldwell Banker Barnes. Today, the realty office sits at the same location on Old Fort Parkway where Snow and Wall once called home.

Mrs. Wall is survived by several family members... That was WGNS' Steve Thornton.

The funeral for Mrs. Wall will be held at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, Thursday, November 2, 2023. Visitation with family 10am - 11:30am Funeral 11:30am. Burial to follow at Wards Grove Cemetery.

Again, Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home are in charge of her services. Read Mrs. Wall's full obituary HERE.
