(MURFREESBORO) The popular WINE AROUND THE SQUARE will take place this coming Saturday afternoon (10/21/2023) around the historic Murfreesboro square. This is a fund raiser that is sponsored and organized by Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation. The Power of Pink program provides awareness, education and diagnostic services for women who lack the resources for breast cancer prevention and early detection.
Main Street Murfreesboro's Executive Director Sarah Callendar told WGNS that parking spots will be blocked as they become vacant at 2 PM this coming Saturday afternoon. She explained that the public square will be completely blocked to oncoming traffic by 4 PM.

This year's breast cancer survivor is Gay Ensey. She has been a nurse at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford for 47-years, and in her current position as Program Coordinator for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. Gay shares a floor with Oncology and sees cancer patients every day. This October Gay will be celebrating being cancer free for 5-years.
Main Event Fun Starts 4:30PM
The evening of fun all around the historic Murfreesboro square begins at 4:30PM. It's an opportunity to stroll downtown with friends and take-in the sights. Main Event tickets are $65 + a $4.61 fee. There is also a DESIGNATED DRIVER class of tickets that sell for $45 + $3.60 fee.
The MAIN EVENT ticket includes dinner from the Alley On Main, along with great entertainment with the Cris Weaver Band, along with enjoying the many tasting venues around the square, and wrap-up a perfect evening with the after-party at the Alley On Main.

Wine Around the Square patrons are also encouraged to make a donation to The Power of Pink.
The Power of Pink helps to make the community aware of issues dealing with breast cancer, along with educating the public about warning signs, along with providing diagnostic services for women.
In fact, Ascension Saint Thomas' Mission in Motion Mobile Mammography coach provides mammograms for women in Rutherford and 26 surrounding counties, no matter their ability to pay.
Since its inception, the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation’s Power of Pink Fund has provided 25,000 potentially life saving mammograms and diagnostics for women in our county.
The Power of Pink Fund also provided $500,000 to support the Mission in Motion Coach Refurbishment which adds 3D tomography along with the purchasing a new coach.
