UPDATE: 18-Year-Old Murfreesboro Resident Died from Injuries Sustained in Joe B. Jackson Pkwy Accident

UPDATE: MURFREESBORO,  TN  - An 18-year-old who was critically injured in a two-car crash on Joe B. Jackson Parkway on June 8 has died. Dallas Johnson of Murfreesboro, passed away from injuries sustained in the collision.  Johnson, who was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center after the wreck, died on Saturday, June 17.

 

The preliminary investigation indicates 18-year-old Johnson was the driver of the black Nissan Sentra. Johnson had one 18-year-old passenger in the car with him. The other vehicle, a brown Nissan Altima, was driven by a 23-year-old male who did not have any passengers in the car with him.

The cars were traveling eastbound on Joe B. Jackson Parkway when they collided.  As a result of the impact of the vehicles colliding, they spun out of control. The Sentra, driven by Johnson, slammed into a large utility pole. Both cars came to a stop in a ditch.  While Johnson died from injuries sustained in the crash, his 18-year-old passenger walked away with only minor injuries.  The driver of the Altima also had only minor injuries.   

Murfreesboro Police ask, "If you witnessed this crash, please email Officer Eric Renfroe at 0883@murfreesborotn.gov." The crash remains under investigation by the Fatal Accident Crash Team.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Murfreesboro Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) investigators are asking for people who witnessed or know facts about the serious injury two-car crash on Joe B. Jackson Parkway that occurred on Thursday, June 8th to come forward and give an official statement.

The preliminary investigation indicates the 18-year-old male driver of a black Nissan Sentra and the 23-year-old male driver of a brown Nissan Altima were traveling eastbound on Joe B. Jackson when their cars collided.  The impact forced the Sentra into a large utility pole. Both cars came to a stop in a ditch. 

The driver of the Sentra is currently listed in critical condition. His passenger, also an 18-year-old male and the driver of the Altima sustained minor injuries. The three men had just finished work at FedEx when the collision occurred this past week.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or who may have information about what occurred.   Potential witnesses can contact Officer Eric Renfroe by email at 0883@murfreesborotn.gov

The FACT investigators not only respond to fatal crashes, but they also investigate serious injury wrecks where a crash victim may have life-threatening injuries. The investigation in the June 8th wreck is ongoing.
