MURFREESBORO, TN - In mid-April, Murfreesboro Police began equipping patrol division officers with Automated External Defibrillators. Lt. Clayton Williams said that if a police officer arrives minutes or even seconds before fire or paramedics arrive, officers can begin life saving measures right away… The units are expected to save more lives in our community.
The police department has partnered with the Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department for training, which is continuing as all patrol officers will have to learn how to properly use the AED devices.
According to the FDA, Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.
