Historical Society Welcomes Elvis and Collects Dues!

(MURFREESBORO)  The Rutherford County Historical Society brought-in the frst meeting of 2023 with local historiabn and Elvis fan Shirley Jones welcoming "the King of Rock'n Roll". The tympanni drum rolled and the room came alive with energy as Elvis entered the room. 

20-plus year Elvis impersonator Dick Peach was suddenly TCB as he shared some of Elvis' biggest hits as well as the history of this unique entertainer. 

 

 

 

It was around 50-years ago that Elvis thrilled a packed Murphy Center, that is now also celebrating its Golden Anniversary.  MTSU's "Glass House" was the home of the King's five sold-out shows in Murfreesboro.

Since this was the Rutherford County Historical Society's inaugural monthly meeting of the New Year, it was also used to encourage members to pay their $25 annual dues. And from the size of the turnout, many new members took advantage of the event. RCHS President Pettus Read said . . .

Read explained that the Rutherford County Historical Society meets at 7:00PM on the third Monday evening of each month in Maney Hall at Oaklands Mansion, 900 N. Maney Avenue. We can now safely announce, "Elvis has left the building."
