TVA Asking for Residents to Reduce Power Usage Across the State

Dec 23, 2022 at 02:43 pm by WGNS News

Extremely cold temperatures that have been in the single digits across the state have created an unprecedented demand on the power system. As a result, residents far and wide have used additional electrical power to keep their homes warm.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking residents for their immediate help in reducing the electrical load. The TVA said that residents can assist by turning down the thermostat, turning off lights, and delay the use of other substantial loads for charging and electric consumption.

The TVA and local power companies are proactively taking steps to temporarily reduce power supplies to certain local areas, which may create brief, intermittent power outages to homes and businesses. Currently, the TVA is working with local power companies across the region to minimize the duration of any outages that may occur.
