(Rutherford County, TN) In an effort to help local families and community members better understand state report card results for Rutherford County Schools and Murfreesboro City Schools, State Rep. Bryan Terry on Monday provided a snapshot of the results recently released by the Tennessee Department of Education.

The state report card provides families and other stakeholders information about how Tennessee schools and districts are performing in order best support students.  The 2021-22 State Report Card has several usability and accessibility improvements across district and school pages.

“Next year will be an especially transformative year for education with the implementation of the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Act,” Terry said. “We still have a long way to go, but I’m optimistic that our significant investment in the right tools will pay off in gains that far exceed pre-pandemic achievement. Tennessee is committed to improving our education system and the report cards help provide a gauge of local and state.”

Terry encouraged parents to access the district and school level data for students. This year’s state report card contains general information as well as state, district, and school-level data including enrollment, finance, and staffing. In addition, the state report card includes the following performance indicators—academic achievement, growth (district and school level only), chronically out of school, and progress on English language proficiency, Ready Graduate, and graduation rate.

“The single most accurate predictor of student success is when families are deeply involved in their child’s educational journey.  It was encouraging to see parental involvement when discussing potential changes to the 3rd grade literacy law.  Hopefully, the report cards will provide families with more tools to help enact positive changes for our children’s education.”
