Auburntown, Tennessee — Auburntown, a hallmark city on the border of Rutherford County, inside Cannon County, has partnered with Real Estate Agent Andra Helton (Exit Realty Bob Lamb & Associates) to host the 2nd annual Middle Tennessee Gingerbread House Display.

The display in Auburntown involves businesses, groups, families and individuals who are eager to build and donate a homemade gingerbread house. The houses will be on display in the Auburntown Community Center for visitors from far and wide to judge and enjoy! The display will be set-up from this Thursday, December 2nd, between 6pm and 8pm and Saturday, December 3rd, from 10am to 2pm. Admission is free.

At the event, individuals and families will be able to vote on their favorite gingerbread house. If you decide to be a part of the event and enter a gingerbread house to be displayed, you could be awarded a ribbon, trophy or prize.

The Christmas in Auburntown event will take place on Friday night between 6pm and 8pm, with the lighting of the Christmas Tree set to kick off a night of activities. At 6:30 on Friday night, the community Christmas Walk will take place in downtown Auburntown and in the park.

Anyone can participate in the Gingerbread Challenge, which is a free public event. But there are a few rules to be aware of when designing and building your gingerbread mansion, cabin or barn. One of the most important rules involves the materials used to build your structure - that rule being: All decorations must be 75% edible. Your gingerbread house will also have to fit on a base that is no larger than 18-inches by 18-inches square.

Following the display of the gingerbread houses, each one will be carefully moved and distributed to local Rutherford and Cannon County Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities for residents to enjoy during the holiday season.

Entry Details: Anyone can enter and donate a handmade gingerbread house by contacting Kimberly Honeycutt via email: honeycuttkimberly1@gmail.com or by calling 615-907-9664. Be sure to Register by December 1st at Noon! Learn more on Facebook HERE
