County and City Fire Marshals Lift Ban on Open Burning

RUTHERFORD COUNTY. Tenn. - Fire Marshals from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County Fire & Rescue have lifted the ban on open burning in their respective jurisdictions.
 
Starting Saturday, October 15th, anyone wishing to burn must call Tennessee State Forestry at 877-350-2876, to request a burn permit. A permit is required every year between the time period of October 15th – May15th. More information can be found at https://www.tn.gov/tnwildl.../prevention/safe-debris-burning .
 
Residential outdoor burning is not allowed within the city limits of Murfreesboro. Fire pits are permitted. Burn permits for outdoor commercial construction sites and bonfires in Murfreesboro are required. City burn permits can be obtained by calling the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department Fire Marshal's Office Community Risk Reduction Division at 615-849-2605.
