UPDATE (MURFREESBORO, TN) The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) continue to investigate a shooting where a man was shot multiple times in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Sunday, Sept. 25. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Hawthorne South Apartments on Indian Park Dr. at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday. Indian Park Drive is off of South Church Street, south of Warrior Drive.
MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS, “The preliminary investigation shows a man with a gun approached a car in the parking lot and a man inside a white Chrysler 200 fired several times, striking the man standing outside multiple times.” The man who was shot was taken to the hospital and at last report was listed as being in stable condition. In addition to one man being shot, the exterior of two nearby apartments were struck by bullets.
VEHICLE POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR: Originally, it was thought the white sedan that authorities are looking for was a Honda Civic, but upon closer examination, police confirmed the car was a Chrysler 200. The driver of the small sedan is wanted by police.
Investigators are working to determine a motive behind the shooting. They believe this is an isolated incident and the men may have known each other. The MPD reported, “Right now, there is no immediate threat to the public.”
Detectives say they would like to interview the driver of the Chrysler 200 to get his version of what happened. Detectives also want to speak to a male teenager who was in the parking lot during the shooting. The two men are asked to contact Lieutenant James Abbott at 629-201-5523. Again, the shooting remains under investigation.
