There were two serious auto accidents on Interstate 24 Monday morning in Murfreesboro. Both wrecks were reported to have occured around the 77-mile marker near the Old Fort Parkway interchange (Exit 78) around 10:30 AM.

Reports indicate in one wreck, a three-quarter-ton pickup truck collided into the rear of a tractor trailer truck. Evidently, injuries reported with the accident were so severe that LifeFlight Helicopter had to be called. The Eastbound lane of I-24 in Rutherford had to be shutdown as Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol worked and investigated the multivehicle crash.

Details as to what caused the two accidents remains under investigation at this time.
