Pushing a push-mower out the door of Lowe’s Home Improvement Store on Old Fort Parkway is what one suspect is accused of doing, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department.

MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS NEWS detectives now need assistance identifying a person of interest in the attempted theft case at the local store.

On April 7th, an unidentified man wearing a green “EZ Money” sweatsuit was captured on video loading a lawn mower, chain saw, and extension cord into a shopping cart. After the items were loaded into the cart, the man reportedly headed out the front doors of the store, rolling past checkout without actually “checking-out.”

Authorities say the individual was confronted outside the Lowe’s store by a loss prevention worker. It was at that point the suspect left the cart filled with yard supplies behind and headed to a nearby 2000 model Ford Taurus that was gray in color. Loss prevention staff said the unknown male hopped into the passenger seat and rode away.

While workers were able to see the tag number on the back of the car, police say the tag had previously been reported as stolen.

Officers are asking if you can help identify this person of interest, to please contact Detective Ed Gorham at 629-201-5507 or email your tips to police at crimetips@murfreesborotn.gov.
