A specially designed tool used to precisely cut through metal was stolen from Sam's Club on John R. Rice Boulevard, and authorities have little to go by in nabbing the thief.
According to a recently filed police report, an employee of the Sam's store in Murfreesboro witnessed a subject run out of the store with merchandise in hand, failing to pay for the goods. When the store manager reviewed security footage, it was determined the unknown man stole a plasma cutter.
The Hobart Airforce Plasma Cutter was valued at $1,599, according to Sam's Club management.
After the subject made it out of the store, he hopped into the driver's seat of an older model Chevrolet Blazer. Authorities reported that the SUV appeared to already be running when the man got into the vehicle and drove away. Security camera's show that the Blazer was wither tan or silver in color.
Police have yet to determine the subject's name and were not able to obtain a license plate number on the getaway vehicle.
Again, the theft was valued at over $1,500.
