Local Author Releases New Novel about a female who battled in the Civil War - There were over 200 documented women who dressed as men to go into battle in the 1800's

A local author has written a new book that involves the Civil War era. What makes his book quite fascinating, is that the story revolves around a woman fighting in the wars on American soil in the 1800’s. The main character went to battle in place of her brother, according to author Randy O’Brien…



The name of the new novel is “Gettysburg by Morning.”

Author O’Brien, who worked at WGNS Radio in his younger years and later went on to be a part of MTSU’s WMOT radio station. In addition to working for years in broadcasting, he was also a professor in fiction and non-fiction writing at Middle Tennessee State University and the Watkins School of Art and Design.

O’Brien’s new book “Gettysburg by Morning” is available on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and online at the Indie Bound Bookstore
