MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University's art and design alumni and faculty are putting their work on the block and on display in the Todd Art Gallery through Saturday, Oct. 9, to help raise funds for student scholarships.

The "2C/Community Collective MTSU Alumni Print Show and Sale" will showcase the Department of Art and Design's new Risograph printer with more than 60 works created for display and sale.

MTSU is the only public university in Tennessee with the Risograph technology, which prints high-intensity color, one color at a time, much like screenprinting or lithography, but with none of the physical labor of those art processes.

The exhibit, which features more than 60 pieces created by nearly 50 MTSU art alumni and faculty members, will be open in the Todd’s spacious main gallery, Room 224A, located in the heart of the MTSU campus at 542 Old Main Circle.

The exhibit is free to the public weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Guests must follow MTSU's mask and other health safety requirements while visiting the Todd Gallery.

MTSU's Department of Art and Design purchased the Risograph machine earlier this year with the intent of using it for classes, community art workshops and collaborative art and design pieces.

Organizers then solicited flat art, photographs and combinations of the two art forms from alumni and faculty, intending to print them in two colors as a community collective exhibit, creating the "2C" exhibit name.

Professors Nick Satinover and Noël Lorson pored over the submissions to curate the exhibit.

Each of the unique Risograph prints is available for purchase by the public at $10 per print. The proceeds will help build the department’s student scholarship fund.

MTSU's Department of Art and Design, which is part of the university's College of Liberal Arts, offers undergraduate degree programs in art education, art history, visual arts, studio art and graphic design.

The department also regularly invites artists of all kinds and at all levels of fame to exhibit in the Todd Art Gallery, conduct workshops and lecture in classes.
