A member of the Tennessee Highway Patrol was killed in a Nashville motorcycle accident this past Sunday afternoon when he collided with a car on 21st Avenue South at Portland Avenue.

Aaron Rumford died shortly after he ran his Yamaha motorcycle into an Audi Q3 that was turning onto Portland Avenue.

Reports indicate the off duty state trooper was only 29-years-old when he was killed on Sunday.

The driver of the Audi was not injured and there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene. Nashville Metro Police report that excessive speed on Rumford's part appears to be the contributing factor in the collision.

The investigation is continuing.
