If you saw a large number of police vehicles on NW Broad Street Sunday afternoon around 2, you may have wondered what was happening - as did multiple listeners who emailed WGNS. Below are the details we gathered from MPD:
Murfreesboro Police were called to a road rage incident on Sunday, May 16th, just before 2pm.
According to authorities, the alleged road rage started in the area of The Fountains at the Gateway at 1500 Medical Center Parkway. Dispatch was told that there was an assault that was actively in progress. The individuals involved in the altercation were said to be in two separate vehicles. Those vehicles included a gray Volkswagen Jetta and a gold Toyota Corolla.
Police canvassed the area and eventually made contact with both cars on NW Broad Street in front of Martin's Home and Garden.
The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta slowed down and reportedly refused to allow the other driver to pass on Medical Center Pkwy. The driver of the Corolla eventually pulled beside the Jetta and yelled profanities while telling the driver to speed up, according to police. The driver of the Volkswagen Jetta allegedly tried to run the Corolla off the road, forcing the driver to stop. Police say the driver of the Jetta exited his vehicle and assaulted the other driver.
37-Year-old Robin Eric Rosenblum, who was said to be the driver of the Jetta, was arrested for aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle.
MPD Spokesperson Larry Flowers told WGNS that approximately two grams of Marijuana was recovered from the passenger door panel of Rosenblum’s vehicle. Rosenblum was charged with simple possession of a schedule VI drug. As of Monday afternoon, Rosenblum was still behind bars.
Passenger, Tina Allen was issued a misdemeanor citation for Simple Possession of a Schedule VI drug and was released from the investigation.
