The Murfreesboro Police Department continues to investigate a shooting that took place on Friday night.

The shooting took place on Sevier St. at University Ave. WGNS confirmed that at least one person was shot and killed. Another person was grazed by a bullet in the incident.

MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS that a possible suspect is in custody. Evidently, the suspect was captured after crashing a stolen vehicle on Middle Tennessee Blvd. The crash occurred after a pursuit, which WGNS NEWS confirmed around 7:40 Friday evening (3/12/21).

Police say that four crashes were allegedly caused by the suspect while fleeing from law enforcement.

At this point, police have not disclosed why the pursuit started or what the motive was behind the shooting that left one dead.

WGNS asked the MPD for the name and age of the shooting victim on Saturday morning and were told, "Per our Criminal Investigations Division, no additional information will be released at this time."

This is an on-going investigation.
