(Murfreesboro, TN) The 14th Annual Excellence in Education will become An Outdoor Experience on Friday, May 1st at 6 p.m. The outdoor event will be held at Cannonsburgh Village in Murfreesboro.

Excellence in Education is traditionally held in January as a black-tie event, however, the event was postponed due to the pandemic until May 1st. Excellence in Education is the largest fundraiser for The City Schools Foundation.

Additionally, the Foundation gave over $38,000 to teachers through the teacher grant programs December 2020. The Foundation continue its mission through the distribution of $20,000 in the form of parity grants to schools this year.

Sponsorships for the Excellence in Education Outdoor Experience are still available. Individual tickets can be reserved for $150 by calling or emailing Tori Carr at tori.carr@cityschools.net.

Trustees for The City Schools Foundation include:  Brook LaRoche, David Scott, Justin Burriss, Stephanie Roach, Travis Lampley, Kimberly Robertson, Vicki Eastham, Elizabeth McPhee, Charlie Patel, Ellen Slicker, Kirk Garrett, Andrew Young, Kathryn Layman and School Board Liaison Wes Ballard.

The City Schools Foundation is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.  Chartered in 2005, the Foundation was created by volunteers from the community who wanted to supplement the resources available to the Murfreesboro City Schools System.
