A special "Prayers of Remembrance" event will take place in Murfreesboro on Tuesday (1/19/2021). The gathering will be held to remember those who have lost their lives during the Coronavirus pandemic.

President-elect Joe Biden has called upon our nation’s churches to join in a service of remembrance for all of the lives lost during the COVID-19 crisis and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Murfreesboro is playing a role in the services.

Bishop John Bauerschmidt is encouraging all churches and mission stations across the Diocese of Tennessee to join in by ringing their church bells on Tuesday (January 19) at 4:30 p.m.

Bauerschmidt is the 11th Bishop of Tennessee. He is a native of South Carolina and was consecrated bishop in 2007, having previously served parishes in Western Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Louisiana.

In Murfreesboro, the St. Paul’s bell will *peal 400 times, once for every thousand lives lost due to the coronavirus pandemic. St. Pauls is located at the intersection of North Academy Street and East Main (116 N Academy St, Murfreesboro, TN 37130).

Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville will livestream their service on Facebook this Tuesday.

You can join Archdeacon Roger Saterstrom on the Cathedral Facebook page for the service (https://www.facebook.com/ChristCathedralNashville).

*In campanology (bell ringing), a peal is the special name given to a specific type of performance of change ringing which meets certain exacting conditions for duration, complexity and quality.
