COVID-19 Update for Rutherford Co. through August 9th, 2020

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Rutherford County has dropped the last five days but there have also been three additional deaths. That brings the death rate to 54.

In the latest data from the Tennessee Department of Health, there are 2,657 active cases in the county as of Saturday (Aug. 8). That's down from last Sunday's (Aug. 2) 2,781.

During that same period, there were 16 new hospitalizations and three additional deaths.

In the five-day period August 4-8, there were 3,595 positive tests with a positive test rate of 14.2%. That's up 1.7% from the previous five-day report of 12.5%.

In Rutherford County, as of Sunday (Aug 9), there were 6,553 confirmed and probable cases with 8,015 positive antigen tests (meaning the person being tested has an active COVID-19 infection).

Red Zone: During the last week reported both new cases above 100 per 100,000 population, and a diagnostic test positivity result above 10%.

Yellow Zone: During the last week reported both new cases between 10-100 per 100,000 population, and a diagnostic test positive result between 5-10%, or one of those two conditions and one condition qualifying as being in the Red Zone.
