Good Friday Tornado 15-Year Anniversary

MURFREESBORO, TN - It has been 15-years since the Good Friday tornado outbreak slammed Murfreesboro April 10th, 2009. It damaged more than 800 buildings, completely destroying more than 100 others and killing a mother and her nine week old daughter.

More than 40 people were hurt. There were three twisters in the county that day, the most damaging...an EF-4 that left a 23-mile long path of destruction across the county on April 10th, 2009. NewsRadio WGNS was on the air for about 12 straight hours, before, during and after the storm...

One of the most memorable calls was from a frequent listener, Jason...

The large tornado had winds that reached up to 170 miles per hour. Two more, weaker EF-0 and EF-1 tornadoes touched down in southern Rutherford County, out near Christiana and Bradyville.

While the Good Friday twister is the one we look back on today, since then, we've had 10 touchdowns in Rutherford County since 2009. The most recent was March 1st, when a tornado struck near La Vergne, causing damage to boat slips in the Four Corners Marina.
