UPDATED: MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – WGNS has learned more about the Murfreesboro personal trainer accused of exposing himself inside an apartment complex fitness center. Murfreesboro Police confirmed that officers arrested the fitness trainer this past Saturday (September 19) after responding to complaints of indecent exposure. The allegations stem from reported incidents inside an apartment complex exercise room on Medical Center Parkway.
Dustin Moore has been charged with three counts of indecent exposure and one count involving alleged indecent exposure to a victim under the age of 13. Of the four charges, the more serious charge involving a child under 13 is a Class A misdemeanor, while the remaining three are Class B misdemeanors.
Officers took 44-year-old Moore into custody following an investigation into the alleged acts inside the apartment complex gym. According to witnesses, Moore allegedly masturbated inside the fitness facility while in view of three adults and one minor. MPD Public Information Director Larry Flowers said officers interviewed witnesses at the scene, obtained a warrant and served it on Moore before taking him into custody and transporting him to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Flowers said Moore was charged with four counts related to the alleged indecent exposure. Moore was later released from jail on bond.
Court documents list Moore's residence as The Lofts at Gateway, an apartment complex located along Medical Center Parkway.
Under Tennessee law, a Class A misdemeanor is generally punishable by up to 11 months and 29 days in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, or both. A Class B misdemeanor is generally punishable by up to six months in jail, a fine of up to $500, or both. If Moore were convicted of all four charges, the ultimate sentence would be determined by the court. The statutory maximum fines for one Class A and three Class B misdemeanors would total $4,000 if the maximum fine were imposed on each count.
A hearing that had been scheduled for this past Monday was rescheduled for October 19, 2026. The hearing is scheduled to be held before Judge Ben Bennett.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office could not confirm what the “L” in Dustin L. Moore's name stands for. However, while reviewing Rutherford County court records, WGNS found a civil case involving a man identified as “Dustin Lee Moore.” According to court records, there is a pending Petition for Paternity case in which a “Dustin Lee Moore” is listed as the defendant. The first hearing in that case took place in 2017, while the most recent hearing was held on June 18th of this year. Another court appearance in the paternity case, listed as a “Review,” is scheduled seven days after Moore's pending criminal court date. Additionally, because the civil case involves a minor, WGNS is not releasing the names of others associated with the proceeding.
A Petition for Paternity, also referred to as a proceeding to establish parentage, is a legal action used to establish a child's legal parentage when necessary. Establishing parentage can affect matters including child support, custody and visitation.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Moore are allegations.
